“That leaves you, Reek. Should I put you in a dress?” He laughed. “Perhaps if you beg it of me. Just now, it will suffice for you to be her bath maid.

I lack the time and inspiration to write something deep and structured about it, but I really like how femininity is a recurring pattern in Theon’s narrative. He’s a sexist character, who is deeply insecure about himself and found power in his masculinity in a very sexist world. His father and Ramsay (who both were - differently - abusive to him) both used that weak point of his against him. The irony being that Theon could be easily seen as feminine in Westeros - he paid attention to the way he dressed, liked jewels, silk and velvet, etc. It’s almost like…it became even more obvious when he tried to hide it (because any man can have a more “feminine” side, no doubt, but Theon would have considered that degrading)

I don’t mind people disliking Theon because of his sexism because for once, that’s a valid point of view about the character. But I think it’s important to understand why that aspect is important to the character and to wonder why this shy boy became sexist in the first place. My guess has always been that, as women are seen as weaker and are mostly powerless in Westeros, Theon started looking down on them as a defense mechanism for his greatest fear was to be seen as weak himself. He despised the weakest in order to appear more powerful - remember that scene with Osha in the show ? Well, that’s what I’m talking about.

So, yes, that’s petty and you can dislike Theon for that - but that’s part of the character and it plays a major role in his story.

So, to all of you who follow me and who are not from Brazil, you should read this, and please reblog, if you can.

These are some photos of what is happening to our country today. São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are facing protest all over the cities. To fight for their rights. Our country is living a hidden dictatorship. The protests started because the bus fee raised 20 brazilian cents. Which doesn’t seem that much, but you all should know that millions of brazilians live with a monthly income of no more than 700 brazilian reais (something like 350 american dollars). Some people live and raise families with that money. Monthly. To these people, $0,20 for each bus means a lot.

But the thing is: what initially was intended to be a protest against the bus fee turned into a protest against the dictatorial government. A government that every year, steals millions of dollars of their people, in their own benefit. A government so corrupt, the population got used to it, and make jokes about it. In this country, a school teacher has a yearly income of $8400. The governors, on the other side, earn, for the same time, about $300.000. To work less. And they don’t even show up to work. And besides that salary, they steal.

And now, people are going to the streets. And the response is photographed. The government is brutally attacking everyone. I mean everyone. Protesters, pedestrians, reporters, photographers. Everyone. For no reason. They just attack. And bomb. And hurt.

The media is absolutely corrupted. The brazilian media makes it look like a violent act, that has to be fought with equal violence. That is a lie. 15 thousand people are going to the streets of Sao Paulo with no guns, no fire, no weapons. And they are being hurt, persecuted, and arrested. Some of them have to pay bail fees up to $20.000.

If you came all the way down here, please, reblog this. Help making the world know what is really going on here. This country, this beautiful country, with beautiful beaches, and women, and music, is now screaming in protest. This is the country in which the World Cup will be in 2014. A country that worries about the World Cup much more than it worries about the welfare of its citizens.

It’s sad being here. But we’re fighting.

I just wanted to say that I’m not very into calling democratic governments “dictatorships”. I understand why the author of this text used that term, but it doesn’t apply here. Brazil’s government might be shitty, but it was democratically elected. I think this is an important thing to highlight because:

1. People from other countries reading this might have no idea what Brazil’s government is and actually believe we are living under a dictatorship. I don’t think it is very helpful to spread misinformation.

2. As Brazilians, we need to own up to our actions. No matter how much you hate the government, or how corrupt they are, they were elected, by us! This is not some kind of ”fake democracy” like we see in some Middle Eastern or African countries. We elected this people, and now we are paying the price.

Before anything I have to say, this post is NOT for show watchers. It will discuss SPOILERS. So, beware!

Now, as an avid asoiaf and got fan, I listen to a lot of podcasts about got, one of them is the amazing Boars, Gore and Swords podcast. Yes, they are not the most “deep” podcast (altough that has improved a lot), but they are super funny, and usually the first got podcast I listen to after the show. Like many other podcasts, they’ve been reading the books on the off season. as you imagine, this season presents a bit of a problem since they didn’t use the entire book. They prefer to remain unspoiled, so I’m helping them sort out which chapters they should read. This is what I’ve come up with:

It was actually much easier than I thought. The only really tricky POV was Tyrion, and that’s why I’ve cut him off at III, because in IV we have the reveal that Willas (which would mean Loras in the show) will not marry Cersei and we have a bit of business discussing Janos Slynt that could also be spoilery. I even considered cutting Tyrion III, because they discuss the Dornish arrival, but I guess this is pretty minor.

Other than that, the only slightly spoilery bit I could find was the whole thing with Jon being heir, but since they totally skipped over that in the show, and we don’t even know if it will re-surface in the books, I don’t think it will be a problem. Did I miss anything else?

Guys if there was a Westerosi version of the Oscars, Ramsay would be going home with his arms full of awards. Look at his face when he says Jaime killed Torrhen; Theon says he’s a Karstark and Ramsay just improvises and transforms into Eddard Karstark in a matter of seconds, a man who’s furious to be reminded his brother is dead. Everything about his face just screams rage, over the death of someone Ramsay doesn’t even know. He is so dedicated to torturing Theon, he has no problem changing faces as often as he wants.
